2006 has been a busy year for Deb, with her five-month Top End Tour signalling the completion of her first full length album High on the Warm Dusty Breeze. [Check out ALBUMS ] The tour kicked off at the beginning of May in her home town of Byron Bay, NSW, at the Railway Friendly Bar. For the lively farewell gig she was intermittently accompanied by special guest musicians Matt Connolly (Irish bagpipes and Irish flute), Joanne Sloane (African doun duons) and Jo Martin (djembe).
From Byron her tour sees plenty of shows on the way up the East Coast, with three weeks in Cairns QLD, then across to Darwin NT for one month and finishing with three weeks in Sydney NSW before returning home in October. She will be performing at various clubs, hotels, restaurants, markets, cafes and festivals, including the Mind, Body and Soul Festival at the Tanks in Cairns (June), Darwin’s Fringe Festival (August), and the GARMA festival in Arnhemland NT (August), where Deb will be volunteering for five days helping to facilitate the contemporary music program for approx 100 Aboriginal teenagers in bands. But it’s not all work, mid-tour she takes a well earned one month surfing holiday in Indonesia visiting friends. After all the organising and hard work she is looking forward to hitting the road.
